Deputy Governor Says Oyo Governor Losing Sleep Over Orire Kidnapping Incident

The Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Bayo Lawal, has said that the state governor has been under intense pressure following the recent kidnapping incident reported in the Orire area of the state.

Speaking on the situation, Lawal said he was certain that the governor had not been getting up to four hours of sleep since the incident occurred, describing the development as emotionally and administratively demanding for the state leadership.

“I am sure the Governor is not having up to FOUR hours of sleep since the Orire kidnapping incident,” Lawal stated, emphasizing the toll the event has taken on the governor’s attention and response efforts.

The comment comes amid heightened concerns over insecurity in parts of Oyo State, where kidnapping cases have continued to raise alarm among residents and community leaders. The Orire incident, in particular, has drawn public attention and prompted calls for stronger security measures and faster government intervention.

While details of the kidnapping incident remain limited in the public domain, authorities are expected to intensify efforts to track down the perpetrators and ensure the safe return of any victims involved. Security agencies in the state have also been working in collaboration with local communities to improve intelligence gathering and rapid response operations.

Kidnapping has remained a persistent security challenge in several parts of southwestern Nigeria, often prompting government reassurances and renewed security deployments after each reported case. Analysts say such incidents place additional pressure on state administrations already grappling with broader national security concerns.

As the situation develops, residents of Oyo State continue to watch closely for updates from government and security agencies, hoping for swift resolution and stronger preventive measures to avoid further occurrences.

The state government is yet to issue additional public statements following the deputy governor’s remarks, but expectations remain high that more concrete actions will follow in response to the Orire kidnapping incident.
