Popular Oyo State-based broadcaster and philanthropist, Oriyomi Hamzat, has expressed gratitude to supporters following his emergence as the Accord consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State, declaring that the “journey to a greater Oyo has begun.”
Hamzat, who formally declared his interest in January, was confirmed as the consensus flagbearer of the Accord Party ahead of the upcoming election cycle. In a statement issued on Tuesday, he said the wave of support from party leaders, stakeholders, and residents across the state had left him both humbled and motivated.
“A collective hope for a better Oyo State” — Hamzat
“I am deeply humbled by the overwhelming support shown to me following my emergence as the Accord Consensus Candidate for the 2027 Governorship Election in Oyo State,” Hamzat said.
He described the development as more than a personal political milestone, framing it instead as a broader movement driven by aspirations for justice, development, and people-focused governance.
“This moment is not just about me, it is about our collective hope for a better, safer, and more prosperous Oyo State,” he said.
According to him, the level of acceptance and encouragement from within the party and across the state has strengthened his confidence in the vision he is promoting.
“The massive show of love and acceptance from party leaders, stakeholders, followers, and supporters across the state has strengthened my belief that together, we can build the future our people truly deserve,” he added.
Appreciation to party leadership and supporters
Hamzat also commended the leadership of the Accord Party at both national and state levels for what he described as their trust and confidence in his candidacy.
“I sincerely appreciate the leadership of the Accord, National and State, and every individual who believes in this vision of people-oriented leadership, justice, development, and progress,” he said.
He added that the responsibility carried significant weight, noting that he does not take the support lightly.
“Your trust and confidence mean a lot to me, and I do not take this responsibility lightly,” he stated.
Supporters praised for loyalty and commitment
The broadcaster-turned-politician also extended appreciation to his growing base of supporters, many of whom have followed his public engagement long before his political ambition became official.
“To the thousands of supporters who continue to stand firmly with this movement, I say thank you. Your prayers, sacrifices, loyalty, and commitment will continue to inspire me throughout this journey,” he said.
Growing political momentum ahead of 2027
Hamzat’s emergence adds a new dimension to the early political build-up in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 governorship election. While the race remains in its early stages, political alignments and internal party consensus-building are already beginning to shape the landscape.
For Hamzat, however, the focus appears to remain on consolidating support and presenting a message centered on unity, development, and public trust.
As political activities gradually gather momentum across the state, attention is expected to shift toward how the Accord Party’s early consensus decision will influence wider contest dynamics in the months ahead.
