Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has accused music label Chocolate City of attempting to sabotage his upcoming European tour by allegedly orchestrating his arrest, in the latest twist in a protracted dispute between the artist and the Abuja-based entertainment company.
In a series of posts shared on social media, the rapper, whose real name is Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, claimed that a police summons issued against him was part of what he described as the “ninth attempt” by the label to undermine his career. He posted a screenshot of the summons, noting the absence of verifiable contact details and questioning its authenticity. “Are they trying to kidnap me or harm me?” he wrote, expressing concern over what he sees as a coordinated effort against him.
The allegations come just weeks before Odumodublvck is due to embark on a Germany tour scheduled for late June, a move widely seen as a significant step in his international expansion. His supporters have rallied online, echoing his popular slogan “MOTION!” in solidarity, while critics have pointed to his history of public confrontations as a complicating factor in the dispute.
Long-running feud intensifies
The rift between Odumodublvck and Chocolate City has been building for months, fueled by diss tracks, social media exchanges, and public accusations. The label, home to rapper Blaqbonez, has not publicly responded to the latest claims at the time of writing.
Tensions escalated further following a December 2025 incident in Lagos, where Odumodublvck was accused of headbutting a staff member during a concert. The incident reportedly led to legal action and a court summons, which the rapper now suggests may be tied to broader efforts to derail his activities.
He has also linked the ongoing conflict to earlier allegations he made regarding misconduct within the label, including claims of a sexual abuser among its ranks, allegations that have not been independently verified.
Questions over legal process
The authenticity and handling of the police summons have become a focal point of the controversy. Legal analysts say that official summons typically include traceable contact details and issuing authority, raising questions about the document shared online.
A Lagos-based legal practitioner, who declined to be named due to the sensitivity of the matter, noted: “If the document lacks standard identifiers, it is reasonable for the recipient to seek clarification. However, any claims of conspiracy should be approached with caution until verified.”
Industry watching closely
The dispute highlights broader tensions within Nigeria’s music industry, where artist-label relationships can quickly deteriorate into public disputes. While Odumodublvck’s rise has been marked by a strong grassroots following and bold public persona, industry observers say the ongoing controversy could affect his international prospects if not resolved.
For now, attention remains on whether the planned Europe tour will proceed as scheduled and whether either party will pursue legal or public clarification. As the situation unfolds, both fans and industry stakeholders are watching closely, aware that the outcome could have lasting implications for all involved.
