Tiwa Savage Raises Alarm Over Oyo Student Abduction, Says Incident Not Getting Enough Attention Online

Afrobeat singer Tiwa Savage has spoken out over the reported abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State, saying she only recently became aware of the incident and was disturbed by how little attention it has received online.

The singer revealed that she first came across the reports through social media posts shared by singer Spyro and media personality KieKie. According to her, the news did not appear prominently on her timeline, prompting her to seek further clarification.

“I just started seeing the kidnapping that happened in Oyo just yesterday. It was Spyro’s post that came up,” she said, expressing shock at the development.

Tiwa Savage added that she began contacting people and searching for more information after realizing the story had not been widely circulated on her social feeds. She noted that the incident appeared to have happened days earlier than she initially thought.

“It’s not trending enough. It’s not trending as much as it should. Then I saw KieKie’s post saying the incident has taken place for almost two weeks,” she said.

Her comments come amid reports of a violent attack on a school in the Oriire community area, where armed bandits allegedly stormed the premises and abducted students, teachers, and a principal. One teacher was reportedly killed during the assault, while dozens of children remain in captivity.

The incident has sparked concern among residents and observers, with renewed calls for stronger security around schools in vulnerable communities. However, public discourse on social media appears fragmented, with some users echoing Tiwa Savage’s concern that the story has not sustained widespread attention.

Authorities have yet to release full details on rescue operations or confirm the exact number of those still missing, though security responses are expected to continue in the coming days.

As the situation develops, pressure is mounting on both local and national authorities to intensify efforts to secure the release of the abducted victims and prevent further attacks on educational institutions in the region.
